Embodied Roles – A repertory lab with Sasha Ivanochko + Louis Laberge-Côté
March 12-14, 12:30pm – 3:30pm
3rd floor Dovercourt House
Produced by Jessie Garon & Jolyane Langlois
Originally performed naked and in silence, Sasha Ivanochko’s 2006 seminal choreography Heaven challenges performers with its precision and raw immediacy. Join us for this rare opportunity to learn through training and repertoire with Sasha and original cast member Louis Laberge-Côté. This lab is open to all contemporary dancers, but geared toward mid-career artists seeking to deepen their physical and interpretive skills.
Each day begins with a one-hour technique class, breaking down the physical foundations of the choreographic language — focusing on postural articulation, complex coordination, rhythm, timing, and group attunement. After class we will transfer these skills to the choreography, investigating how meaning emerges through the interplay of these elements and embodied attentiveness. This workshop will be clothed.
