Teaching and Consultation
An educator since 1996, Sasha is a highly sought-after teacher of contemporary dance technique, composition, pedagogy, repertory + interpretation, and career development. In 2009, she developed a rigorous training methodology rooted in the demands of her choreographic practice—one that cultivates physical intelligence, perceptual acuity, and creative responsiveness. While specific in its lineage, this methodology equips artists with a versatile and transferable skill set applicable across a wide range of performance contexts.
Sasha has held faculty positions at leading institutions including École de danse contemporaine de Montréal, Dance Arts Institute, Alberta Ballet School, and the University of Calgary, and has most recently contributed to Anandam’s 2026 Choreographic Pilot Program. She has taught extensively across Canada’s major post-secondary dance programs and professional communities, as well as internationally, including at the Nationaltheater Mannheim (Germany) and Kobe Jogakuin University (Japan).
As an artistic mentor, Sasha offers in-depth guidance in creative research, choreographic process, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Her mentorship supports artists and educators at all stages of development—from early explorations through to creation, staging, and premiere. Known for her perceptive eye and rigorous yet responsive approach, she fosters environments where critical dialogue, risk-taking, and refinement can unfold in meaningful ways.
Her work in community activation and audience engagement includes facilitating post-show conversations, leading discussions on pedagogy and artistic process, and creating spaces for dialogue between artists and publics. These initiatives extend her commitment to dance as a relational and socially embedded practice.
An award-winning arts leader, Sasha’s experience spans curriculum development, program design, and executive and artistic direction. She has led large-scale institutional initiatives, developed innovative training models, and worked closely with boards, faculty, and administrative teams to align artistic vision with sustainable organizational structures.
